Running ‍♂️ A simple action that people take for granted.
I know I definitely did. I use to thrash my body with training. Push it to absolute breaking point, and then one day it really did happen. I broke 
I injured my hip in a rugby game and my life changed for ever.
I got my first hip surgery at 19 years old.
The surgeon made a mistake and caused arthritis in my hip joint so I then got my second surgery at 22 years old. Ever since then I have been in constant pain.
Every day, 4 out of 10 pain in my hip Sitting, driving, standing, dancing, walking.
I haven’t run for exercise in over 5 years. Anatomically I can run, but the pain that follows makes me regret it.
It takes me hours of stretching to unlock my hips and reduce the pain.
This has been a huge mental struggle for me to overcome for a long time, But there is something beautiful that has come from it.
I have a conscious appreciation for things a lot of people take for granted like the simple act of movement. I often stop myself when I am feeling down or defeated and literally say out loud “You are walking, you are breathing, you are alive! Get the f*** over yourself and appreciate how lucky you are” I am extremely grateful that I received this level of appreciation early on because it has shaped the whole direction of my life. It made me realise that anything can happen to you at any time so live in the now!!! So my message for today is this, Stop and appreciate the things you take for granted. Sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing, movement.
