Female Sexual Expression & The Public (Male) Gaze I love so much about what’s going on for women’s sexuality right now: the freedom to bear our bodies and the liberation that proceeds it; the tearing down of media beauty standards; the anti-body shaming movement, backed by hundreds of thousands of women; the ability to make waves by creating nude and sensual art that goes against the stereotypical grain. But in the midst of all these positives, I can’t help but be put-off when I read/hear the errant comments that take an act of women’s liberation and turn it into a pornographic performance; like something that’s meant to pander to the public (and often male) gaze instead of being a personal journey of growth. There’s a difference between porn and erotic performances that are meant to turn on and cater to a viewer, and sensually-charged experiences that might take place in public, but are meant to be empowering and evolutionary for the individual. The change I wish to see in society is more quiet respect for the latter, especially when it’s clearly not meant to pander to the male gaze. Case in point, and the inspiration behind this post: A sexual wellness company (who I won’t name at the moment, but absolutely adore) has created a revolutionary product that allows women to have incredible orgasms while fully clothed. Their company mission is to change women’s lives through the power of living your orgasm out loud; something women haven’t always been able to do, and still struggle to fully experience. They’ve set up “stations” at new age-type events where women can experience a full-body, fully-clothed orgasm in public while using their product. It’s a beautiful, life-changing moment for the women who try it. They feel more confident; like they’ve just stumbled upon the secret to owning their sexuality. On New Year’s Eve I experienced @ellie_wilde_dakini and her powerful medicine at a women’s workshop which she presented at @nz.spirit. ‘Seven gates to bliss’ she called it. It opened me up...wide. Divine light penetrated, cleansed and restored me. From my root to my heart I was recoded with truth, sacredness, innocence, reverence, ecstasy and grace. I’m feeling tired. Battle fatigued...I slept for 9 hours last night. Vulnerable. Grateful. Inspired. Rejuvenated. All. At. The. Same. Time. I’m still downloading and processing profound insights about my femininity and my sexuality...and I am meeting strong suppressed feelings of anger and rage which I think are attached to lifetimes of deep seated shame, violation and persecution...towards myself, my ancestors, other women...and I’m also feeling anger for the shame, violation and persecution inflicted on men. The patriarchy fucked with both the feminine and the masculine. HARD. And I sense a shift. A MASSIVE collective shift. Ellie, I have so much gratitude for you. Yesterday I watched as you held space for a group of men at the festival...and it was beautiful to witness the coming together of us all. The healing of us ALL. I thank you I loved your description of a true Alpha Male - a man who protects and guides the vulnerable and the weak, a man who protects the divine feminine. And so it is . . I’ve just licked the surface of this theme and I’m so fucking curious to learn more. I feel ready to dive deep, do the work, meet my shadows & unlock what’s hidden beneath...not just for my own healing, but for other’s too.

The more I let the emotion flow through me like a river, undulate my hips and ripple down my curves, the more powerful I become to create change, stand tall, move mountains, seduce life and feel the pleasure in just being alive for the journey. This is my self care, my emotion in motion, my way of grieving and celebrating, of hiding and finding my power, of raging with anger and diving deep into the tender secrets of my body to awaken my sexuality. Nothing is choreographed, it's just me following my body. I've never shared my dances with the world outside of S Factor, and David has only witnessed me dance once. It's something that I keep close to the chest because it's MY gift to MY body. For many reasons this week something has shifted and I am just sick of being small, playing it safe and protecting my illusion of control and perfection. I want to ride the wave and be a little braver. A lot braver. So here I am. There is too much evil, too much sadness in the world to not share the good things, the triumphs, the realness of life. This isn't me just dancing one dance.
