A photo of a close up of a section of the #brutalist wonder that is "Hotel Zlatibor". Built as a centerpiece for the Partisan "Hero City" of Titovo Užice (whose name was changed after #WWII to honor Josip Tito), this ambitiously designed #skyscraper #hotel was meant to be a shining example of #modernism and #architecture achievement in the new #Yugoslavia. Some enthusiasts assert that this structure is the most "brutalist" styled #monument-like structure created during the Yugoslav-era. However, once a modern marvel, it now sits largely in #decay, demoted to a 1 star establishment, it sees few guests and it's in a poor state. However, there are some signs that it's owners are attempting to modernize and rehabilitate the structure. This building is located in the center of the present day town of Užice, #Serbia (which removed the "Titovo" from its name at the end of the Yugoslav era). Today I wanted to share a #snowy photo I took last year of the #WWII #memorial #sculpture commemorating local soldiers and #veterans from surrounding villages who fought and fell during the People's Liberation Struggle (1941-1945).
