My husband and I spent the weekend building a workshop for my glass work - this is the first piece out of my new workspace - a first attempt at a copper foil panel (spider to come tomorrow.) EDIT: Also I don’t have a grinder yet hence the thick soldering joints - never thought to use my mosaic tile nippers (with which I’m really familiar) doh! Windows Rain & Roses Gothic Arches ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The past week has been full of rain in the mornings, sun in the afternoon, then rain in the evenings. A perfect environent for so many things to grow. Today as I sat in church I thought about how beautiful the windows are, the stories they tell, the people who made them and those who donated them. Once upon a time they were the salvation of a fidgety, lonely girl who had to sit on a hard pew several times a day and listened to things she did not understand and had not experienced. To learn of sin and forgiveness. A girl all alone at boarding school who found inspiration and imagination as the sun streamed through. Stained glass artist and jeweler Neile Cooper created a small cabin/greenhouse behind her home in New Jersey that had her own glass designs on every available surface. The result is this, a structure built entirely from repurposed window frames and lumber that has dozens of panels of her stained glass, depicting flowers, birds, butterflies, mushrooms and other scenes from nature. Wow, we are in love! ❤️

Thank goodness I have the nicest, most patient customers! I've been working to get this one done for almost a year now! I am so thrilled to finally have it finished up, installed in its beautiful old window frame and all ready to ship out. (I'm not thrilled about packing it up and stressing about it arriving unharmed, but that's another story.)

A very warm welcome offers the recently opened @sistercitynyc hotel in New York City, the latest hospitality project by Atelier Ace which also operates @acehotel. Choosing plenty of bright woods, the team created a calming interior which unites a pared-back look with a sensual tactility. All its spaces feel grounded and smart at once: in the lobby area, birch timbers are elevated by stained glass skylights and ribbed glass partitions. The 200 guest rooms continue this sensual minimalism, where black terrazzo and paper light shades complement the custom-made joinery made from cherry and ash. On top of the building sits the Last Light cocktail bar with soft velvets and dark leather upholstery elevating the wood-cladded ceiling. by @a_gaut
