•Nighttime snacking. I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this. •Snacking around at night is so difficult to resist. And the suggestions you read to prevent it are just..... (sorry but I’m not likely to journal or meditate instead of scarfing down some cookies or chips. And I can go brush my teeth and still eat a whole pint of ice cream just fine, thanks.) •Those types of ideas don’t work for me. I simply cannot have my most tempting foods in the house. At. All. They’ll wake me up at night calling me to go eat them. (not kidding) •But @hooper.fit posted this little suggestion and I thought hmmmm—not a bad idea. •My favorite @lacroixwater is coconut and I think it would taste great with some raspberries in there. •What’s your favorite flavor? What would you add to it?
This quote basically sums up how I eat. How about you? To me, “food” means real food: vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts and seeds, fish and meat. I do enjoy some dairy and when I want something sweet, I love to bake (banana bread is happening today!). Generally, my plate is 2/3 plants and 1/3 protein. I tend to skip most packaged food...with the exception of some minimally processed items, such as nut butters (yum!), dark chocolate (yum again!), mayo (I just don’t like to make it ), Greek yogurt and a few others. Michael Pollan also has other suggestions that make sense to me: not eating anything your great grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food, skipping anything with more than 5 ingredients, ingredients you cannot pronounce or anything with a number (hello, yellow dye #6!!). Have you ever tried banana pancakes?! If so, do you love them as much as I do?! Never thought about it? They are a healthy option...teen approved! If you have a few bananas in your kitchen, you must try these!! They are grain free, sweetened only by the bananas, easy to make and so good!! Here’s the recipe: 2 bananas, mashed + 4 beaten eggs + 1 T coconut flour + 2 T ground flax + 1/4 t cinnamon + 1/4 t vanilla + pinch of salt. Whisk bananas and eggs until combined. Add coconut flour, flax, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Mix until blended. Melt 1 T butter, ghee or coconut oil in pan or griddle. Pour batter, cook until golden on both sides. Eat them plain or top them with berries or banana slices, a spoonful of almond butter, a dollop of plain yogurt, or go ahead and pour on some maple syrup (there’s nothing better!). Or, if you are like my son, go for ALL the toppings at once. Plain or fully loaded, they are yummy! Saturday is leg day in the #fasterwaytofatloss community. What that means is today we practice the “if it fits your macros go ahead and enjoy it” philosophy. Today’s the day to enjoy a donut, some cheese, an ice cream cone, a glass of wine—whatever it is that sounds good to you.
And what this graphic does a great job of illustrating is that it isn’t the end all of your healthy lifestyle when you choose to have something that isn’t necessarily healthy at all. And notice I said WHEN not IF because like I say all the time....we’re living in the real world over here! So enjoy a treat now and then. But don’t use it as an excuse to go crazy and lose sight of your goals. Now let’s get leg day done and move on with our Saturday!
Calories matter. But not all calories matter. Does that make sense? .
People who are overweight are not necessarily because they are eating a lot. They are many contributing factors that need to be addressed including the medical history.

When it comes to weight loss, it’s all about eating right, not less. .
Eating less doesn’t necessarily help you lose weight. You may lose some weight at the beginning, but soon your weight will be plateaued despite how little you eat. .

When you understand how foods affect your health as well as your weight, you can forget about calorie counting. When you understand how your body works, what your body really needs and start nourish your body with the right foods, your body will thank you in return by making you feel great and energetic, and not surprisingly, you will start lose weight naturally. .
