Yes, it’s blurred hat guy from a couple of posts ago, but this time - sharp. Shot at f2, to blur out the lamp post and lose any detail in the sky. It’s that uniform, flat sky that makes the image. A bright blue with a mess of clouds would ruin the minimalism. One-up for grey days! ••• One thing I always check carefully for each image is the colour balance, and in particular the warmth. Three quarters of my images are cooler after edit. I only go warmer very occasionally - if the subject demands it (as here). Overly warm tones can be a bit sickly, less atmospheric, I find. ••• Tinting the shadows very slightly can also be very effective. You’ll see that trick a lot in my work. ••• The last thing I would EVER do is turn up the saturation across a whole image. That way, ugliness lies. ••• Do you have any colour do’s and don’ts that you find useful?
