Have you ever done musical shares?! It’s my version of musical chairs where they walk until the music stops then find a partner and share something. This time it was sharing a story to go with our narrative writing unit!

Using their knowledge of coordinate graphing and area of polygons, my students created their own hologram projectors! I saw this idea from @dr_vcjones and tweaked this lesson to gear it towards my audience. My students were so excited and 100% engaged throughout the entire lesson. With it being the end of the year and just finishing up their math state testing, this was definitely what they needed

So. Much. Yes. I LOVE teaching. There are days I come home where I feel so blessed to have so many amazing students and that I have the opportunity to teach and mold them. BUT there are ALSO so many days I come home and get straight into bed (after stuffing my face with chickfila). Just because you feel burnout or are excited for the school year to end does NOT mean that you don’t love teaching ✌ It means you’re human. #elateacher

Don’t mind me over here painting on my new Samadhi Board from @nirvikalpa_llc! This thing is the coolest! You paint with water, and the image slowly disappears. I plan on using this during morning choice and during small groups! I’m thinking it’d be fun to write a problem on the board and students need to try to complete the problem before the water dries! I think it would also be perfect in a calm down corner! I know my kiddos that love doodling on the whiteboard are gonna snatch this thing up during morning choice too! Grab one Amazon for only 30 bucks! How would you use one of these in your classroom?!

This is going kind of long, but it’s my last post of the night, I promise! I just want to express how truly thankful I am with the people I have met at #ChapmanU. I remember back in 2017, I took what was then (and still is) my biggest leap of faith I’ve ever taken in my life! As a first-gen working class college student, and an undocumented immigrant, Chapman was on another level that statistically speaking, I shouldn’t even dream of attending, because in my reality, universities like Chapman are simply out of reach. I remember having so many doubts my first semester, I felt out of place. But I took the scary step of actually reaching out and opening myself to meet faculty, staff, and students and things started to change. And then as I started working with #StudentEngagement I felt more engaged. Oddly enough, Chapman started to feel more like “home” a place I actually felt comfortable in... there after, I’ve only met amazing individuals. They may not look like me, they might not share the same circumstances as me, they might come from a different background, but I feel they have opened their arms and embraced me. And I am so thankful for that! Because there have been so many moments when I was ready to give up and to quit. But it has been those wonderful individuals that in one way or another motivated me to keep going. So thank you! I am truly blessed! And I am committed to give back and to do my best to also influence others in a positive manner!
