and here you’ll see a wild millie, munching on pizza, enjoying the cheeeeeesy goodness in an all-you-can-eat pizza hut deal, because that’s what normal people do, right?

for me, the greatest and most adaptable way of facing so-called “fear foods” is pretty much head on. it isn’t the norm to be scared of a certain food group. i see it like this:
look at everyone else in the room. it may be your family, friends or total strangers.
are they sat worrying about the calories they’re eating? do they pick the meal they consider to be the “safest” or “healthiest”? or do they pick what they crave, want and enjoy without any second thoughts, and eat without issues?
you’ll find that every single individual, minus yourself, sees food that way. -
obviously, our minds are catered to the disordered thoughts: so how do you face a fear food if you can’t rationalise the fear first of all?
start small. can’t eat a full pizza? try a half. can’t manage that? a slice. a bite. no matter where you need to start, there’s a process to overcoming your fears. exposure therapy, perhaps.
by starting small, you can realise the nonexistent effect this “fear” has on you as a person- including your body and weight. because the truth is, pizza won’t make you fat. neither will any other fear food out there. if eaten in moderation, all food is healthy. all food is good and should be “safe”.
-
and remember:
it’s okay to make mistakes. it’s okay to slip up. maybe it doesn’t go to plan. giving up shouldn’t be an option from there, however.
pick yourself up, start again.
you weren’t put on this earth to be frightened of your next meal. you were put here to thrive.
-
now, get out there and face your fears for YOUR freedom.
Our #SpotlightSunday for May will go towards different struggles of mental health for #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth . Today's is in regards to eating disorders, for they are incredibly common across the board. It's a DIFFICULT mindset to break if your relationship with food is complicated with the variety of eating rules and patterns that have developed, but with time and the right support group, recovery will come through. Recovery is not linear but it can happen! We hear you and we support your journeys, for each journey is incredibly different
