Durante la mia esperienza di studente in Irlanda, Bernard (il mio professore di Inglese) sosteneva energicamente la teoria per cui il miglior rimedio contro il raffreddore sarebbe mezzo bicchiere di whiskey caldo con una spruzzatina di acqua. Qualche anno dopo ho letto un articolo su un studio medico che corroborava questa teoria poiché “l’alcool dilata i vasi sanguigni facilitando alla membrana mucosa il processo di guarigione dall’infezione”. Non sono sicuro che anche Bernard sapesse dello studio o semplicemente cercasse di venir fuori con qualche scusa per scolarsi un bicchiere di Whiskey. Ad esempio un bicchiere di Teeling 24 yo Vintage Reserve, Best Single Malt ai World Whiskies Awards 2019. __________ During my student experience in Ireland, Bernard (my English teacher) used to say that the best treatment for a bad cold was half glass of hot whiskey with a splash of water on it. Years later I read an article about a medical research that backed that theory: “The alcohol dilates blood vessels a little bit, and that makes it easier for your mucus membranes to deal with the infection”. I do not know whether Bernard knew about the research too or he was just trying to bring up an excuse to have a glass of Whiskey.
