So proud (and a bit surprised) that our market was recently listed in the UK Telegraph’s list of the ‘Greatest 30 Markets in the World.’ This is the inscription: “If the city’s origins are rooted in the kitchen garden planted on the slopes of the mountain in 1652, then this market – its tables laden with produce grown on a once-derelict bowling green, as well as from farmers working in and around Cape Town – pays a sort of tribute. With its ocean views and painterly displays of fruit and veg, it’s certainly the city’s most attractive. Aim to arrive at 8am to watch stallholders set out the city’s best cheeses, charcuterie, sausages, vegan products and baked goods. Then head to the meals tent, where the quality and variety can be overwhelming.” Sat, 9am-2pm; Sun, 9am-3pm; Granger Bay, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.
