I had been contemplating a furry child since I moved into my place in MoCo, but it never seemed like a good time. I then saw them on #petconnectrescue's site and knew instantly they were perfect. I had never imagined we'd be going through our own loss with the passing of Otto just after the new year, but Watching Otis with Rory has been so amazing as I see so many traits from Otto. He is a natural caretaker, crawling up onto my shoulder to comfort me and pulling Rory into a hug, no matter how much the little refuses to be smothered with love (such boys). Today’s #GoodTypeTuesday is to letter your pets names and talk a little bit about how they came to be in your home. I originally adopted Otis along with his shelter brother Otto from @rescuepetconnect for emotional support after a tragic loss close to me. I called them the kittwins and followed their shenanigans through #theadventuresofottoandotis. Unfortunately, only after four months of caring for them, we lost Otto following a standard neuter from an undiagnosed heart issue. It was heartbreaking all over again. Still to this day I get sad thinking about that day. What made it worse was bringing Otis back to an empty home. He walked around crying, looking for his brother. I felt so awful for both of us but thank @fallsroadvet for being the absolute best during that time. They truly felt that loss as well and were so kind to cover his cremation for us. Around that summer my sorority sister @lemonietree found a bunch of teeny tiny kittens and took in three of them. I was lucky to adopt Rory from her and that we can continue to follow his siblings: Carlisle and Cordelia. Each cat has such a different personality. Rory is skiddish and a straight up mommas boy. He loves catnip mice and spring toys. He’s made the middle cushion of our couch his permanent residence during the day. He can say “Mom” and clear an entire room in one bound. He also will throw himself down in a tantrum like a toddler when I tell him it’s time for bed. Otis is more sociable and his preferred method of communicating with me is through chirps. But if I don’t respond, he starts crying until I figure out what he needs. He prefers crinkle balls and hiding under the corner chair to nap. He’s also a neck cuddler and the loudest purrer. He came to me with a kitty cold that has left him with sinus issues, so while I know he hates it, I find his little snores and him sleeping with his mouth open to be the cutest. My favorite thing about both of them is just how close they are. They rumble of course, but they HATE being without one another. They are the absolute sweetest, i love them so. @goodtype
