The Necks, the Greatest Trio on Earth. I hope I'm forgiven the hyperbole, I wasn't planning to use it, I don't know that many trios. Then I read a review of The Necks by Geoff Dyer (author of the most beautiful declaration of love to Jazz with his "But Beautiful".) In the NY Times he uses the exact same words. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/04/magazine/my-obsession-with-the-necks-the-greatest-trio-on-earth.html My wife and I stumbled on The Necks in 2007 on my birthday.Having not planned anything special for the occasion, we simply looked at what was on in terms of entertainment and being quiet puzzled by a rather mysterious short review decided to find out more. It was mind blowing! We had never heard anything like that before. What they created with only three instruments defied belief. We were enveloped by waves of harmonics. We could hear instruments that were not there like saxophones or voices singing. It was riveting and hardly looked at eachother for the duration of the performance. Ever since that lucky encounter we've been to gigs by The Necks in Glasgow, Leeds, Forlí, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and finally London and are planning to go to more in the future, for every performance is unique, one of a kind.
