There are many sides to this song. One being that it describes abuse (possibly as a child) and the pain that this causes. Hating everything about it and instead of ever being healed, keeping it inside and as a result doing exactly what he hated to others. So it could be that the ‘Figure.09’ in the title refers to an actual person, who hurt him in the past and the pain made him do exactly what that person did to others, and he hates that he let himself become like that person. No matter what, the victim can never truly recover from the abuse they have experienced. It's about allowing yourself to become something you never wanted or acting/becoming like someone you hate but can't escape... finding comfort in a painfull situation. It's not only the thing he hated, it's the thing he feared. Say, when you were young you got ignored by everyone, till you changed yourself and became like these people. You got respected when you were dealing the same things you had to suffer by. And you hate yourself for this. However, Mike said it was just a working title and they never changed it. Chester could also be talking about his demons a.k.a. his depression. He’s saying that his depression has become a part of him, and that he can’t break away from it, letting it consume him. It could be about separating or bad break up with someone. But everytime you think about that someone, you get those painful memories. Everything you do you're reminded of that person. It could be about killing someone and how it would haunt the person for the rest of his life, or that he is afraid of someone who’s so close to him. #linkinpark
