Indian Hemp (Apocynum cannabinum) also called dogbane, hemp dogbane, amy root, wild cotton, rheumatism root, prairie dogbane. It is a member of the milkweed family. They seem to be growing really well this year. Great for cordage making. The fiber can be extracted by retting, drying or it can be used green. Used as a very strong cordage with a high breaking strength. I have tried to spin it into a thread to make cloth. It does work well as a sewing thread for field repairs. This plant is poisonous and can cause vomiting. Venus’ Looking Glass (Triodanis perfoliata) also called Clasping bellflower and Clasping Venus’ Looking Glass. Fairly common along open woods, fields, and roads throughout the US and southern Canada. Beautiful purple flower with shiny seeds that are packed in a capsule of three. Update: Mystery solved- Guttation Effect - thanks to @scholarly_woodsman and an agricultural teacher I know. I had never seen this effect. It can occur when there is high humidity in the air and high moisture content in the soil. This forces sap from the roots to collect on the tips of the leaves forming droplets.
