It’s time for another chat about Primitive Reflexes!! . . A couple of months ago I shared a handout explaining the types of challenges we can see when a child retains their primitive reflexes. . . You all need to know about these because chances are your child is holding onto at least ONE of their primitive reflexes! . . These reflexes should be integrated (aka not present anymore) by 12-24 months old! ❌ . . And when they hold on to these reflexes, we see a lot of symptoms similar to ADHD and SPD. . . That’s why a bottom-up approach is SO KEY!! Instead of putting a bandaid on the ADHD/ SPD symptoms, look at the underlying cause and start addressing from the bottom up! ⬆️ . . You might see a confident pro-football player in this pic, but internally I had lost my confidence & was under a TON of pressure to perform at a high level every time I touched the field. The Chargers had drafted Quinton Jammer (5th pick in 2002) to take my job, (the previous year I had 2 surgeries and was placed on Injured Reserve). Before training camp of 2002 the Chargers restructured my contract (Veteran minimum w/play time incentives). During this time of pressure & uncertainty I went back to all the fundamentals I was taught early on in my career:(Assignment, Alignment & Adjustments). Because of these tools that I had mastered, I had gained my confidence back and had the best year of my NFL career!
