So I just thought I would share some of my current downhill bike setup with you guys. This setup also applies to my trail bike, but just in a less exteme fashion In terms of suspension, it's always a little bit tricky to get the right setup, especially if you are racing different tracks every week and it's also not as simple as bouncing on it in the parking lot and thinking it feels good. A couple of things you have to remember is that when you are riding down a slope, more of your weight will be on the front end (fork), so I always go up a bit in pressure on the front. Currently I have 2 tokens in my Boxxer fork with somewhere between 135 and 140 psi. I weigh roughly 80 kg. Another thing you have to think about it when you are riding down a slope, especailly if it gets steeper is that you will be braking and sometimes be even harder on the brakes depending on the course conditions. When you brake, all your weight moves forward which means you have even more weight on the front. It's not always possible to just keep going up in pressure as you also have to think about things like traction, how hard it will be on your body etc....so this brings me to the back end of the bike, the rear suspension. I like having a bit of a harder setup in the back usually but currently I am running a softer setup which causes the bike to have a bit more squat. And this in turn counter acts the pressure on the front and gives the bike a more neutral feeling when you go down a steeper gradient and are on the brakes more often than not. The Tues is a progressive bike so I am running a 250 spring at the back mostly...and every now and then I will switch to a 275 or even 300 depending on course conditions.
