"Someday you’ll be first, and that’s the day you’ll understand why you never settled for being second." - Dane Thomas

I believe this with everything in me. I believe in my version of happily ever after. Among us there are many who can't even imagine this being real because they have settled for so long in so many ways it seems like a fairytale. A lot of people often settle for being secondary. He is your boyfriend but has a wife... She is your girlfriend but everything and everyone comes before you and any real effort into making the relationship work. Or the verb that would most adequately describe the relationship is "begging" not love, but begging. Begging, pleading or silently wishing that you were being seen, heard, or considered. Another word. Lonely. Lonely in a relationship. Another word.. daily Rejection. Dismissiveness. You can't figure out if they are just filling up space or if you are indeed the space filler. Making our "someday" a reality begins within. These repeated experiences can train your mind to believe that this is normal. It is up to you to retrain your mind. We have to stop settling for whosoever will. We can't keep accepting medicore relationships as the norm and then place blanket blame on love, men or women for our unhappiness. There is no room for our version of happily ever after when we are addicted to settling for second. It is time to level up. Emotionally. Mentally. Spirtually. We must daily find and use the tools to heal and ascend. - #IamColeMichele #SinOfBeingSingle
