It was the gloomiest of gloomy days when we visited Little Moreton Hall, but it didn’t stop us from getting outside and taking photos (though the rain did stop my camera on a few occasions, oops). I promised some more photos of the outside as it’s so wobbly it’s almost hard to believe. It gives the same impression when you’re walking around inside it too. I think the National Trust have done an amazing job of keeping the building going considering it’s lack of foundations. Isn’t it amazing? Hope you had a lovely weekend ❤️
Serried ranks of balusters, Corinthian Columns and a guilloche coffered ceiling. Entirely constructed of fired clay this is the first domed garden building in England (probably). #thevyne #classicalarchitecture #tudorarchitecture #folly #17thcenturyarchitecture #historichouse #englishcountryhouse #ornamentalbrickwork #brickwork #pediment #archilovers #historichouses #statelyhome #englishgarden #johnwebbarchitect #isaacdecaus #banquetinghouse #dovecote #dome
Finally managed to nip around The Vyne today, after my site visit and admire its famous portico and sublime stair hall #classicalarchitecture #tudorarchitecture #16thcenturyarchitecture #17thcenturyarchitecture #18thcenturyarchitecture #georgianarchitecture #historichouse #englishcountryhouse #corinthianportico #archilovers #historichouses #statelyhome
Not much remains of the Tudor Richmond Palace.
Built by Henry VII on the banks of the Thames, it stood on the site of an old royal palace named Sheen.
The palace is best remembered for how fond of it Elizabeth I was. She loved to stay there and hunt stags in the nearby woods. She died there 24 March 1603.
After the Civil War the palace was sold by parliament, and then largely divided and demolished. This Gatehouse is one of the only parts of it you can still see today.
Chenies Manor, a beautiful Tudor mansion house with fabulous gardens.

The Feathers, Ludlow is possibly the most famous timber-framed building of all. This “prodigy” of Tudor architecture was constructed in 1619, over an earlier core, as the residence of local lawyer, Rees Jones. #thefeathers #ludlow #shropshire #timberframed #tudor #architecture #archilovers #tudorarchitecture #history #heritage #gable #oldbuildings #prodigy #famous #thefeathersludlow
