Posting this is very hard for me but I am trying to be brave and feel it is important to acknowledge that these acts of hate continue to happen all of the time, and I also need the MF’er that did this to me in Provincetown on Sunday to know that I am NOT broken and I will NOT be erased! Having such a wonderful group of friends/family around me, I tend to live in a bubble and think that things like this can’t happen to me. Guess what, they can and did and now I am just really in a gross head space. This violence was the result of me simply using the men’s restroom and the guy standing and taunting me from behind not wanting me to enter the men’s restroom (in Provincetown of all places!) I know for some of you this may seem unfathomable, but for myself and many others it is a daily concern/issue as to which gendered restroom to use in public settings so as to cause the least amount of drama with bystanders. For those establishments with non-gendered restrooms I applaud and thank you profusely. This experience has me shaken to the core, but I’ve had to overcome worse things than this. With the outpouring of support and love from my strong core of friends and family, I know that in time I will heal and return to the Dame you all know and use my resources/platform to advocate for others who find themselves in similar circumstances.
