Friday evening and it’s a LITTLE less hot. The Boot Room, with its stone floor, is the coolest place in the house right now, so Nim’s pretty smart to hang out there. These are my ‘Mid-Summer’ pots. The Violas had got a bit leggy and tired, so I’ve chopped them back (they might come back later) and replaced them with pots filled with pretty traditional summer annuals. It’s all very frothy and feminine - vanilla-scented Nemesia, which are so brilliant at just flowering and flowering. And classic Geraniums (I got mine at @waitroseandpartners because I was so late in the season) flanked by very pale blue Lobelia...yes, I have Lobelia in my pots (my father used to love it and I rather like it, too)! It needs some structure, to stop it getting too lacy, so I probably need to clip and sharpen up the box topiary this weekend.
