Believed to have been brought here back in time by the Phoenicians, the Luzzu has been the main fishing vessel utilised by small-scale fishers. Yet it must be said that not all the coloured boats seen at Marsaxlokk are in fact a Luzzu. The majority are either known as the "Kajjik" or "frejgatina". Unlike the Luzzu, the Kajjik does not have its back round. Rather its back is flat.
