Today's workout was three different blocks of sets of two shoulder weighted moves and a 30 second HIIT move. Each set is 10 reps.... THEN the 20 minute cardio. . I pushed SO hard. I'm freaking proud of myself for being strong enough to even do today's workout. Yes, I still paused. Yes, I still modified things. Yes... I still feel like I rocked it! . Like I said yesterday, I'm frustrated with my lack of progress... Also, I'm proud of myself. It's both, it's a journey. I go back and forth. . Today, I going to hold on to that feeling of accomplishment! . . . . I'm going to take a moment to be real here. The lady being scaled? That's me. The little human (that I joke was swapped for a baby chimp because of his climbing skills)? That’s my son Leo. When he was born he came out FIERCE. Hence-- why we named him Leo. He's always been our little strong warrior. Leo's been fighting an awful case idiopathic vasculitis for half his life. What does that mean? He has inflammation of his blood vessels and no one knows why it started or why it continues. We have no idea about a lot of it and the doctors don't really either. We know he gets the most insane looking "hives" you'll ever see pretty regularly. We know he gets joint swelling and can't walk some days from it. We know it sucks. Big time. We are *finally* maybe being put with the right team of doctors for him. In fact, I'm waiting on a call in the next hour to find out if he's going to be seen in a new center with some of the top doctors aimed at trying to figure this all out for him. Why am I sharing this? Because sometimes things seem like sunshine on social media when really everyone is fighting fights they don't want to on a daily basis and this is ours. Because today's the last day of Vasculitis Awareness Month. Because I'm sick of people and kids looking at him in horror and at me like I'm a crazy person bringing what must be a contagious kid out into the world (note: he's NOT contagious, as my daughter will yell to you if you ask what's on his body). To raise a sliver of attention to this medical condition. To throw a prayer out in to the universe that we finally start to get answers, maybe this summer, or maybe just some day. But mostly, because even though this image was taken during a lighter flare, and you can see his "hives" here, this is documenting this season of our lives which I have to hope will pass, and that we still look insanely happy, because we are, despite all this. Most of the time he’s an energetic, silly, happy albeit stubborn as hell little guy. Our fierce little man that’s gonna conquer the world (under the direction of his even more tenacious big sis).
