Feast Your Soul. St. Thomas, Ontario. Got up close and personal with my all-time favourite house EVER here in my home town! Ever since I was wee I was fascinated by this fortress! Swipe to satisfy all House junkie urges. ••• Built in 1878 for Archibald McLachlin, a former Mayor involved in the development of the Canada Southern Railway, this prominent mansion in the Queen Anne Italianate style features a high pitched roof with a spacious, partially developed attic with turrets and dormers. The front of the house presents three bays with a sun room addition. A large central door is surrounded by a gothic brick porch. The turret to the left is carried on a turned granite pilaster with bracket. The turret to the right continues to the foundation. The white brick is worked in patterns. #StoryOfMyHome Day 4 - Rainy Days & Mondays. If you saw yesterday’s post & now are looking @ this pic you may wonder what we did wrong in life to go from glorious blue gumdrops & saccharine sweet pink California sunshine to a haunted house in a three foot high Michigan snowpack but sometimes things aren’t as they seem. It rarely rains in SoCal as this entire area (@ least Orange & LA counties) actually is an arid desert that’s been built out to look lush & fabulous so its reality is exactly the opposite of its tropical delusion. Unless you live in the v less glamorous high desert area of LA county where I grew up & few peeps want to live & things are exactly as they seem. Very emblematic if I must say so. As for Michigan, our new home, they say if you don’t like the weather here just wait a half hour. True that. The sky will open & drop an out-of-nowhere 20 minute Apocalyptic deluge then BOOM! torrential downpour is over & out comes the sun. Unless it’s winter & well this pic tells the whole story on that issue. But now to the point. I had more rainy days & blue Monday’s in the beautiful blue cottage where it hardly ever rained than I’ve had in our frozen falling down fixer upper & for the next few weeks, post to post, I have no idea how, but I aim to tell you why. Because “the why” is the story of my home.
