  Ottimo. Un prodotto davvero ottimo. Conoscevo già le cantine @masciarelli_winery , specialmente la linea Marina Cvetic e la grande espressione di Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, ma non il loro Syrah, particolarmente nello spettacolo dell'annata 2015. Siamo a Loreto Aprutino nell'entroterra pescarese dove l'azienda solo nel 2010 ha deciso di impiantare queste viti, non troppo distanti dal mare Adriatico a circa 350mt d'altezza, su un terreno argilloso sabbioso, dove questo vitigno ha raggiunto una buona espressione in una zona non di appartenenza. Il vino si presenta benissimo, un colore rosso quasi violaceo, impenetrabile. A naso spiccano i sentori di varietà, more, amarene su tutti con accenni finali di pepe, probabilmente derivante dell'affinamento in barrique francese di almeno un anno che questo vino subisce prima di riposare almeno altri 12 mesi in bottiglia. Grande equilibrio e struttura per un vino decisamente tannico ma morbido, con un finale non troppo astringente ma fruttato, di ottima persistenza. Un bel prodotto di una grande cantina che continua a stupirmi per la produzione di vini sempre di qualità ad un prezzo davvero giusto. Che dire, ancora complimenti alla signora Cvetic e alla memoria dell'innovatore e fondatore Mascarelli per aver creato una realtà davvero eccezionale nel cuore dell'Italia! 2010 Château Qanafar from the famous Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. It’s a blend of 55% Syrah and 45% Merlot. In most vintages they add some Cabernet Sauvignon but not for the 2010 vintage. This wine is the top product of this family-owned Château. The vines for this blend grew on an average height of 1,200m and were 6-15 years old. The grapes are handpicked and aged in 100% second used 225L oak barrels for 12 months. Dark ruby - and some violet - color. Very concentrated but not overdone. Ripe plum, dark cherries, chocolate and some licorice on the palate. Tannins very dominant, some more character and finesse would suit this wine well. Still a little young, I would wait 2 more years before opening the next bottle. Definitely one of the best and most interesting reds I tried from Lebanon. Love the labeling too - it fits to our painting . 2012 Duckhorn Vinyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley was a nice surprise for me. Duckhorn was founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Beside Cabernet Sauvignon they produce Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. Needs at least 2 hours in the decanter, quite closed and harsh shortly after uncorking. But it becomes beautifully soft with nicely integrated tannins and ripe dark berries on the palate. Great medium-long finish. Never expected this to taste so good - well done. Almost 32 years old - I'm a millennial! . Recently @theitalianwinegirl posted in her blog an article written by @giocaravetta how millennials making the impact on winemaking industry. I still can not get over it. . Our world is changing fast. What is it really mean for the wine sector? "Wine in a can, wine with a screw-top lid, single-serving wine bottles, monthly wine box subscriptions." - wrote the author in the beginning and then continued with the research to show what happens in the USA in the past years. A European winemaker very probably even inevitably will follow the US's consumers path. As much as I appreciate classic wine traditions (from here to Moon and back!), I wonder how many decades (years?) it will take to completely change. Is it something afraid of or be excited about? PS: you are a millennial too if you were born around 1982-2004. You are Gen X if you were born between 1961-1981 and before that - Baby Boomers:) Cheers!
