Dana and her identical twin sister, Tracy, both BRCA-positive, fought cancer together and were disease-free for seven years. Tracy’s cancer came back and Dana shares those struggles as part of our Why I Ride campaign.
Watch Dana’s video on our Facebook page & join her at Tour de Pier Seattle on September 14th

So fun getting to meet Tyler Locket tonight at the Virginia Mason Dream builders ball. It was a great night getting to celebrate VM’s big news that they will soon be delivering babies again. Kinda cool news for our community, and.... I was born there so there is that. ♀️. I’m proud of my parents and their involvement in helping make this happen. Way to go mom and dad!

That’s my pops. Fighting the good fight and determined to get stronger. Guess what? That evil mass in his pancreas that was removed on Monday morning after a 7 hr procedure... that mass was 99% DEAD! You hear that satan!!! Dang this journey is a roller coaster. You just don’t know until you’re personally in the thick of it. Mad respect to those who have lived to tell the story. And shout out to my family who’s been rock steady. Thank you to our community who’s reached out, prayed, called, messaged, and has sat with me/us while we fall apart with worry. Can’t type this without crying my eyes out. It’s all gratitude folks. God’s been holding us together. He gets all the cred here.
I’M OFFICIALLY GOING TO BE A SURGEON!!!! Matched and moving to Seattle for Residency ⚕️ Beyond blessed to have the support and encouragement of my family and friends throughout these past 4 years. Thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders along the way❤️ It hasn’t always been easy, but damn it was well worth it

Chemo Day is here. Today was a doozy. Dad is in amazing spirits and was ready to do the thang!!! We learned a lot. Chemo care, side affects, met with the dietician, Dr, discussed the clinical trial, more blood work and finally.... chemo. Mom and I grabbed some “linner” while Dad got his first bag placed. Noticed a familiar site in the gift shop window so Mom wonderfully bought it for me. I think this will be timely @mooreaseal I’m amazed by the staff here. They are incredible. I’m amazed by my Dad’s attitude. I love his jokes with the nurses and how ready he is for this process. Trusting God in all of it. Thank you everyone for texts, calls, messages and prayers. They are working!
Dance for Parkinson’s instructor Deborah Birrane, center, leads the class in floor exercises at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Seattle Theatre Group brought its Dance for PD program to Kitsap County for the first time this winter, offering a free, eight-week course on Bainbridge Island at the invitation of Virginia Mason Medical Group. The Seattle program is part of an international Dance for PD movement, launched by the Mark Morris Dance Group in New York. People of all ages with Parkinson's are encouraged to join the classes, along with their care partners. A degenerative condition affecting the nervous system, Parkinson's disease stifles the body, stiffening joints and restricting motions to small gestures. Dance can help restore confidence in movement, a sense of grace and harmony between mind and body. (Photo by Steve Zugschwerdt / Special to the Kitsap Sun)

A MAJOR THANK YOU to this group of @seattle_pacific nursing students! For the last 10 weeks, they’ve been creating a toolkit to educate healthcare providers on trauma-informed care, and how to better care for patients who may be victims and survivors of sex trafficking or the sex trade.
If you’re a healthcare provider (doctor, nurse, medical receptionist, etc.) this toolkit is available for free to you at iwantrest.com/hcp-toolkit - check it out!
