MdS & London • Two weeks but worlds apart. These medals represent huge milestones for me for very different reasons. • The fact that I completed the Marathon des Sables still shocks me and probably always will. • Yesterday’s London Marathon was my 20th in total and it showed me that I can go faster. Despite having done 225km in the Sahara Desert I was capable of going 13 minutes faster in the marathon then ever before. I was at sub four hour pace for much of the race too. It shows me that sub four hours is not just a moonshot anymore, it’s a very real possibility. That both scares me and excites me in equal measure! • If I’m honest, I struggled in the incredible noise, busyness and excitement of London yesterday as I had my mind was still very much in the peaceful, desolate and rawness of the Sahara. Luckily I had awesome support on the sidelines from friends and family and the company of @whatcharlierannext to keep me smiling. • My body and mind now feels incredible worn out so I intend to give it a well earned break from intensive training before I build up to my ultramarathon season with @racetothestones, @racetothetower and @racetotheking. • Finally thank you to everyone whose messages or commented in the past few weeks. In the last 3 weeks since Manchester my diet has mainly consisted of beige food and wine, and running has been ‘limited’, so I’m pretty pleased to have run London for fun in 3:27 ☺️ I ran totally to feel, so the first few miles I flew at 3:10 pace and rode the endorphin high, and gradually dropped the pace as I became more tired, and slowing it right down when it got uncomfortable, to make sure I enjoyed every minute! There were PBs flying all over the place yesterday and I did feel a slight pang of jealousy. Do I actually find running a race event for “fun”, fun? Or is racing what I love? @cphmarathon is in 3 weeks and I’m tempted to give it my all, for “fun”.

No words can describe today - absolute rollercoaster. I wish I caught the number of a girl I ran the first 11 miles with called Fran - she was such a hero and wish I stayed with her for the whole run but selfishly run ahead London marathon you have been 26 weeks worth of training, 4 physio sessions, a near deferal, lots of sports massages, lots of sore niggly knees, but so worth it!! @sheltercharity thank you for your support and for the after party! Target for this year’s London Marathon? . I’d be over the moon to beat my time of 2:56:18 from 2018 . But as @mileswithhayley put it, I want to “Run Brave” - knowing that I left everything out there, gave it my all and showed some bottle at tough moments . If I can finish knowing that, I’ll be happy . We go again...
