A few days ago we asked what you loved about your Instagram community and the overwhelming response was that people loved that fact they were able to learn about new places and share travel ideas. Oman only came onto our radar about 6 months before we went and that was because @saltinourhair threw up some absolutely amazing pictures which really caught our eye and we were sold! We too love that fact that within this community you can learn about new places you never would have thought to go and be there a few months later . . . One of our favourite days in Oman was spending the morning at the Wadi Bani Khalid. It’s an incredible tropical oasis on the edge of the desert and unfortunately we only had the morning there but we would have stayed here all day, and come back the next if we could . . . Jumping into the weekend like... . . . We’ve seen these stop motion videos popping up on Instagram every now and again and we’re in love with the rickety motion of them. Have you ever imagined Oman so beautiful?! I have, because it was my home for many years! This Wadi is probably far better than Wadi Rum in Jordan because at least there is a natural pool to swim in and cool down from the scorching heat of the country. From what I hear, it's as hot as 50°C in Oman right now! WELCOME TO OMAN! ✨ . . Every since I did a stopover here a few years ago I’ve wanted to return - and for reasons like this fabulous place above! There is so much to do and see here, and some of the most breathtaking nature spots I’ve ever seen in my life . . . Wadi Bani Khalid is just one of the many natural Wadis (Canyons with springs) in Oman. All of this is nature at its finest. The rock formations go on for miles, you can swim through the Emerald green clear waters and discover many hidden caves, waterfalls and beautiful corners like this. This is the best day I’ve had in a long time and a place I’ll never forget ❤️ . . I highly recommend driving in Oman, transport other than car is not that available but driving is super easy there, the roads are good and as long as you have some sort of gps you’ll be fine. To get to Wadi Bani Khalid it’s around an hour and a half from Sur inland, there’s parking near by and you need to hike (wear good footwear it’s a bit hairy in parts ) for 10-15 to get to this spot. Plenty of locals swim there and will tell you which way to walk it’s very friendly. Check out my Oman highlight for more info if needed
