Was habt Ihr erlebt? 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Ich durfte einen Tag im Oman verbringen. Leider war es nur einer, da wir mit dem Schiff unterwegs waren, aber das Land hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Mit unserem Privat-Guide ging es ca. 1,5 Stunden südlich von Muskat zum Wadi Shab um dort ca. 45 Minuten hinein zu wandern. Am Ende kann und sollte man durch 3 Pools laufen und schwimmen um an eine Höhle mit einem Wasserfall zu gelangen. Die komplette Wanderung ist einfach klasse und ich werde sogar eine lebenslange Erinnerung haben. Warum? Auf dem Zurückweg bin ich doch tatsächlich mit dem Fuß umgeknickt und saß auf dem Boden. Mein Knie voller Blut und eigentlich hatte ich nur Angst um meinen Knöchel und Sprunggelenk, da diese schon sehr lädiert sind. Aber soweit war alles gut. Mit blutigem Knie ging es zurück - die Blicke der anderen Menschen waren echt lustig. Jetzt lese ich gerne Eure Geschichte. You cannot visit Oman and not make a stop at one of the amazing wadi’s scattered across the country. These oasis are little slices of paradise and the ultimate way to relax, enjoy the weather and cool off in your very own natural pool. Wadi Shab is one of the most popular to visit because it’s only a 40-min trek from the starting point and a 2-hour drive from Muscat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don’t let the lack of people in this picture fool you, there were heaps of other tourists when I arrived! The wadi is huge, so despite the crowds, people spread out so you’ll get little sections to yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While it’s important to dress modestly in Oman it’s completely fine to wear your swimsuit at the actual wadi because it’s a tourist spot (there were a lot of women in bikinis so you won’t feel out of place). I would just recommend keeping your shoulders and legs covered for the first 10 mins of the hike, which is through a local village. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Usually I’d write an article about visiting Wadi Shab, but instead I’m going to direct you to the website I used to plan my ENTIRE Oman trip. @omantripper has a great blog (link in bio) with all the info you could ever want and more. Can you believe places like this exist on this earth? Now that that is out of the way time to get REAL! Wadi Shab was high on our list in Oman. We read countless blog post and saved every Instagram photo you can find. . . First off, everyone says it’s a 45 min walk. IT IS NOT A WALK! It is a treacherous HIKE! Over boulders, along the side of the canyon, over very slippery rocks. Lots of older people and even a lady in crutches did it but it is not a cake walk by ANY MEANS! We want you to go in with open eyes unlike us. It is not a walk but a moderate HIKE! Wear proper footwear! . . . Next, Instagram and blog posts lead you to believe that these pools go deep and there are just so many to explore and take photos of! In reality there are basically only THREE pools! The first one, then you walk a little to a second boring one, then you climb to a third which takes you to a cave with a waterfall. While all of this is EPIC, no one tells you there aren’t actually that many locations to photograph and leads you to believe this is a huge area when it really isn’t in reality! . . . The good thing is there aren’t that many tourists in Oman so even though we went at a busy time in high season, it really wasn’t THAT busy! This photo was taken at about 3pm and no people were edited out. Everyone said to go early but of course we didn’t listen. It was very busy but by 3-4pm pretty much everyone left and the light was great for photos! . . . In all, we spent about 5 hours here and highly recommend afternoon-late afternoon for exploration!
