How's this for a Throwback Thursday? Party on, Wayne. Party on, Garth.
I love late night cosplay shenanigans. This wasn't what the wig was originally for, but it was too perfect to pass up. Thanks to @melbowroom for directing and videoing this scene. Party on, Mel.

#throwback Wayne’s World from my squiggly line days.
Also, I’m not dead and I haven’t given up on this whole “art” thing, I swear! It may seem like I’m not doing much, but truthfully, I’m creating more than ever these days. Besides working as a full time in-house designer, I’m currently working through several freelance projects, including two VERY huge ones. I can’t show you guys these for quite a bit, but I think the drawings I’m currently deep in are some of my favorite I’ve ever made and I am endlessly grateful for the amazing opportunities that come my way.

Too much ambition, too low a budget. That pretty much sums up the AMC Pacer. A short history in two parts.
The Pacer was conceived as a city car. An American city car to be precise. The idea was to offer full-size American interior space in a car that was short enough to park it easily. That actually was a very smart idea - Fiat would repeat it on the brilliant Multipla.
The Pacer was originally designed around a rotary engine. Poor little AMC could never have developed that on their own, so a deal with General Motors was made to use their upcoming rotary engine. The rotary engine would have made the Pacer light and quick. Would have, because in ‘74 GM dropped their rotary project for the obvious reasons, leaving the Pacer engineless. AMC didn’t widen the Pacer to make a traditional piston engine fit, as is commonly believed. It was wide all along. They did have to put a big transmission tunnel in the interior though, and that took up a lot of the interior space.
The Pacer was developed to meet upcoming, very strict safety regulations. A lot of extra steel was built in for extra safety, including a roll bar over the passenger compartment. It is visible on the outside, in the roof. Laminated safety glass also added much extra weight. The problem was that the existing 6-cylinder engine, that replaced the still born rotary engine, had a lot of trouble shifting the Pacer’s weight. It couldn’t get out of its own way. .
AMC Pacer 4.2 de Luxe, 1 may 1975.
