Emily is a 4 year marcher who is completing her second year as captain of the guard! @emstrass What is your favorite guard memory? - When leadership had cheeseburgers in our hands during retreat at the Jackson Memorial competition last year and ate them in a huddle before marching back to the band! What was your favorite PPBHS Marching Band Show? - The Beatles, because it’s just pure fun!! I love this group of girls (+nathan) more than anything and being on the field with them is something I will always treasure. What’s your favorite piece of equipment? - SABRE!!!! What are you planning on majoring in after high school? - Musical Theater! What is your advice to any guard member? - This time will go by in the blink of an eye, so the most important thing for you to do is have fun. When all is said and done, you are not going to remember the bad shows, the drama, or the tosses you couldn’t get. You’re going to remember the friendships, the pride, and the absolute joy that comes with being a part of the Point Boro Color Guard. Take advantage of it, and don’t take one second of it for granted. Mr. Ferrie has had the privilege of watching Emily grow over the past three years. Just completing her 1st year as captain! @mleahyy What is your favorite guard memory? -Hearing the crowd cheer every time we did the kick line during Classics; hearing our school's name called after the words "first place" at states freshman year. What was your favorite PPBHS Marching Band Show? The Beatles/Classics What’s your favorite piece of equipment? SABRE What are you planning on majoring in after high school? Theater What is your advice to any guard member? 1. Have fun all the time. That's what you'll remember when it's all over: the memories you made and how you felt while doing what you love. 2. If you don't get your tosses or your work perfect the first time, don't sweat it. Try again. 3. There is a difference between happy and content. Being happy means you know you had fun and did a good job. Being content means you are alright with staying where you are. Never ever be content in your performance until you step off of that field after nationals of your senior year. Only then can you say "that was my absolute best". 4. Always remember to be a good role model, because whether you know it or not you can all have the most amazing impact on people. 5. Remember that every single field you march on is our field, no matter how long the bus ride there takes. When you perform it is no longer some other school's football field. It is the Point Pleasant Boro Competition Marching Band Field. It’s been a pleasure to get to know Margaret over the past three years. Mr. Ferrie’s favorite attributes about Margaret have to be her positivity, words of wisdom, and her calming effect on people. Margaret is always the most positive person. Ready to turn any negative situation into a positive one. This year was Margaret’s first year as a captain and she truly stepped up for the job.
