Did you know 'Ratty' in The Wind in the Willows was not a rat at all, but a water vole! The water vole is under serious threat from habitat loss and predation by the non-native American mink. It's our largest species of vole in the UK and is sometimes mistaken for the brown rat. It lives around water: rivers, streams, ditches and ponds. When it enters the water it makes a distinctive 'plop' sound.  To help tell it apart from other voles, look for its glossy brown or black fur and blunt muzzle with small, black eyes. Its ears are rounded and almost hidden, and it has a dark, slightly furry tail. Scotland’s water voles often appear darker, with many having a black coat. This is the last of this series of custom orders; a granny bog turtle that searches for a calm spot to eat his spinach pie ♥️ this pie it was very simple to make because I ate a lot of them in my life here in Italy this is very traditional, and is called "tortino di spinaci" or "Pasqualina" and it is *Perfect* for a pic-nic!! Do you have a specific traditional plate that you love? Anyway if the pie was simple and funny, it wasn't the same for the turtle!
