O vinho do jantar foi este lindo Bordeaux de Pessac-Léognan, o @ChateauHautBergey 2004. . Elaborado com o blend bordalês clássico de Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot e Petit Verdot, foi envelhecido por 16 meses em barricas de carvalho francês. . A safra 2004 não foi uma safra excelente em Bordeaux e, por isso mesmo, os bons produtores fizeram vinhos mais “acessíveis” em sua juventude (e ao bolso também). É o caso deste vinho, com 15 anos de idade e já mostrando estar na maturidade. . Na taça mostrou cor rubi média. Aromas de frutas negras maduras, floral (violeta), especiarias, caixa de charuto, chocolate e caramelo. Depois, um toque de couro. Na boca: fruta madura, pimenta negra e chocolate, com média persistência. Tem corpo médio, acidez média-alta e muito macio, de intensidade média+. . Um belo vinho! Muito equilibrado e elegante, tem boa complexidade mas ainda com poucas notas terciárias. A idade fez bem a este vinho e acredito que tenha estrutura para mais alguns anos de guarda. I’m really enjoying trying the wines of southern Italy while hanging out in Puglia. This one is a Fiano di Avellino, a DOCG from Campania. Medium to full bodied, it’s all stone fruits, melon and mango, showing hints of honey and wax, which come with ageing. For the Chardonnay fans who like it ripe with some weight and texture!

A Bevy of Summer Beauties! We’ve been drinking some delicious wine lately. From the best Albariño outside Rias Baixas (Terravista) to the vivaciousness and verve of Vinho Verde (Ameal) to the brooding, rustic white wine of Croatia (Stina). AND THEN ... the seductively electric experience of the Meinklang Grüner Veltliner. Loads of honey, apple brioche and apricot (with just the slightest I-kid-you-not bit of cow pie from that guy on the label) - this stuff is riotously good! Visited Planeta Winery in Noto. This is about the largest family owned winery making wine in five regions. Had a nice welcoming and a walk around the vineyards.The tasting was set up to give an overview of the Sicily and introduce wines from all five locations. . — 100% Carricante from the northern slopes of Etna (white chalk) showed minerality with some good acidity. Terebinto from Menfi DOC - 100% Grillo grown on limestone soils - the typical Sicilian white - easy drinking and refreshing: melon, tropical fruits, hints of pistachio. The Frappato from Vittoria DOC was very nice with wild red cherries and lil smokiness, definitely good chilled (15C) - for the afternoon drink in the sun 100% Nocera from Sicilia DOC - Tried Nocera grapes for the first time! ❤️My fav was Santa Cecilia - 100% Nero d’Avola from Noto - blackberries, sour cherries, chocolate finish, yuum. Definitely recommend a visit to one of Planeta wineries if you are in Sicily — Are you planning any winery visits anytime soon?
