California is the fourth largest producer of wine in the world, following Italy, France and Spain. I come from the first wine producing country in the world and I moved to the first New World wine producer State. I look at Italy for tradition, diversity and history, I take inspiration from the courage for innovation I often encounter in Californian wine makers, especially in the new up and coming wine regions. Here I am in one of them, Santa Barbara county. Watch the YouTube video of my last trip to that area... today all the thoughts and prayers go for my Californian fellas, dealing with the earthquake fear, it’s many years people is waiting for the famous ‘big one’, we just hope this is not it yet! ❤️
Say hello to Rebecca and Lucy Willson, sisters and proprietors @bremertonwines located in South Australia’s Langhorne Creek wine region...
...
The Willson family moved to Langhorne Creek in 1985, while Rebecca and Lucy were still in school. Their parents, Craig and Mignonne, had fallen in love with the 40ha Bremerton Lodge property, then an irrigated Lucerne farm. Craig — a lover of wine — planted a small vineyard and, in 1988, Bremerton Wines was born...
...
Fast forward to 1996 and the Willson sisters joined the family business within six months of each other: Rebecca as winemaker, Lucy as marketing manager. Together, they transformed @bremertonwines , Australia’s 1st sister-run winery, into one of the highest regarded wineries in the country...

I’ve psyched myself up several times about getting into wine. I mean, I’ve always been into wine, but mostly into drinking wine.
.
When my partner and I moved to California last year, I was excited about a lot of doors that we’d have access to. Year-round farmers markets was one. California wine country was another. I quickly found a great shop in our Venice neighborhood. And around the same time found myself following @marissaaross after reading one of her @bonappetitmag articles.
.
It was her review of @marthastoumen’s Post Flirtation that lit a fire in my heart. I knew I needed to try that wine. At the time, the only wine shop in LA that had it was @silverlakewine. So we made the trek. And it was worth every mile in the car to get my hands on a bottle. So much so that we went back for more. Then I ordered some directly from her. Then I signed up for her wine club. Then I met her IRL at the #lawinebowl.
.
All this to say, I’m a @marthastoumen fan-girl. And this Carignan is like getting a hug from a strawberry and a cranberry. It’s juicy (not sweet). Great chilled or at room temp. Light tannins. Bright acid that literally leaves your mouth watering for more. It’s an incredibly gorgeous ruby red color like a stunning precious stone. It’s sessionable, as my beer-drinking friends would say. A good summer Porch Pounder.
.
The moral of this story is two-fold: Try one of Martha’s wines. Give Carignan a try.
.
And lucky for me, @vinonrose has Post Flirtation and a few others for when my personal stock runs out.

So it’s been about 1 year since I started posting about wine and Sonoma county so I’m calling it my one year anniversary
I started posting about wine on here as something to keep my mind off of my grief and anxiety and this was the best decision I have ever made.
I have met so many lovely people, learned so many things, met some friends along the way. I’m so thankful for each and every person who has followed along with me! Everyone in this Instagram wine community is so nice and I am thrilled to be a part it. I wish I could tag everyone who I have loved connecting with on here but that 20 person tag limit is sometimes frustrating.
I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store!
Cheers! .
