Back to last week’s Q&A! I was asked about WORK VISAS to come work in the States. So this goes out to all my fellow Canadians and other "aliens" Hope this helps!
.
First of all, it's absolutely doable! Always keep that in mind! Where there is a will, there is a way
.
OK One of the first steps that you will need to do is accumulate anything and everything you've done dance wise (i.e program schedules, credits, awards, scholarships, articles, pictures, laminates, pay stubs, flyers, etc.). You want to essentially prove that you are an "extraordinary" artist and an extremely important asset to the United States. If you don't have a lot to show just yet, no worries! There's your first goal. Develop your skills and gain as much experience as you can in your own country (performing, creating, teaching, judging, etc.). I am personally so grateful I got to create a bunch of memories in Canada before moving somewhere else. It was helpful in every way possible An other thing your lawyer will be needing from you are referral letters from professionals in your field. Start thinking about who you have worked with, connected with, learned from. In general, most choreographers/teachers/directors in the business are so supportive and will gladly sign a letter for you. Your lawyer will definitely help you write those letters so you'll get help You will also need a sponsor. That's where finding an agency comes into play. No, it is not their duty to pay for your Work visa (which is usually somewhere between $4000 and $6000) but they become your sponsor by agreeing to take care of you and provide you work opportunities in the US. Meet with a few different agencies. You should be choosy. You want to work hand in hand with a team that will support you and believe in you. So I say, go with who feels right for you personally.

Yes, we owned a studio in Mexico, and, yes, @brotherkuya and I have been together that long!!! #tbt #fm3 #workvisa #takingitback #getdowndancestudios #puertovallarta #sayulita #mexico #danceislife #foreverdancepartner #dancepartner #partnerincrime
