• pis là Insta a décider que c’était assez long...

"When we migrate, we murder from our lives those we leave behind."

My third pick for #manbookermarathon is a beautiful brutal story of two people falling in love, falling out of love, pulling out the roots and holding onto the roots. But above all, this is a story of hope.

Nadia, a free spirited woman, avoiding moral policing, meets Saeed, a liberal but traditional man. They start dating, as their city falls to militants gradually and they go looking for #magical #doors that would help them flee to another country, perhaps a better one?
Running from continent to continent, they find themselves struggling with their #refugee status. The 'natives' demand to oust the 'migrants'. Nestled within are paragraphs with refugee scenes from around the world, they're hated somewhere, welcomed in another, captured in one, killed in another and win with love elsewhere.
___________________________
What I loved most is that even though dealing with a sorrowful topic, the book never tries to emotionally wring the reader. It gently shows a brutal scene and quickly moves to next, without giving reader much time to dwell on it and grieve.

A powerful story, dealing with the in-news refugee crisis of the present day, giving hope that someday we'll realize, all hearts beat the same, thud the same and stop the same.

As usual, a detailed review on Goodreads, link in bio! ☺️

It is hard to capacitate our beings as one. It is also hard to understand the right direction to heal the sick. For hundreds of years we have been studying the animals of earth and ourselves to gain knowledge of how to heal. Some methods have been mad. Mad like the insanity that's reining our countries around the world. We've sought to kill, to treat sicknesses by means of therapies ranging a board range, to giving pills, and other wild means to end a sickness. | our world is sick. And the one thing I could say is the individualism-categories we have put everything is has prevented an understanding in the bigger picture. So many times we have been taught the functioning of cells. The biology of you, me, and all plants and animals around us. In every living thing's fight of evolution we see how there is a sought destruction and abolishment of life. | but our world is largely this way for the fears we inhibit, for the poisons we take in, for our own self destructing behavior, for our out lashes of anger - hate - pure negative energy, and we see it. You cannot see the energy like air but you see it in the way we destroy ourselves, others, and the other forms of life around is. | These attacks whether be from weather or our own human hands around the world is the winds blowing through the trees. | wake up. | feel the air upon your skin.| feel the movement in the particles around you. You'll feel the despair, you'll feel the hate, you'll feel the hopelessness, you will feel. Our souls are in a lost disconnect distracted and out lashing. | I am here to say the beauty in these moments is real amongst the world. The frightening darkness brings light if we choose to shed it. But we must ask ourselves in how to function as one, how to be ornate, organic to the world. We cannot stop the disease for it is in all of us. You cannot kill what you did not create. Our attempts to say goodbye to the volatile has failed much in the preservation in hindering memories our earth has not emotionally forgotten. / begin to question - begin to think - every problem is one thought away, just one thought away from being solved. Can we begin to create? And as to what will we create?
