BIRTH- Today is the beginning of WORLD DOULA WEEK, where we celebrate the contributions of birth workers globally. _ We live in a time where women’s bodies are celebrated in certain contexts, and policed in others. Having beautiful images that honor the magic and wisdom of the body is so important in helping to shape our collective cultural outlook and transforming our gaze. Birth is a rite of passage and both woman and child cross a threshold and together are born. _ Birth is happening for all of us, even if we don’t have the reproductive anatomy to give rise to a new life, we have the creative power to give rise to a new project, a new book, a new screenplay, a new version of ourselves. As a doula I support women at this powerful threshold of change in their lives- witnessing this sacred moments. _ I want to take a moment to salute my sister @swoonhq for her incredible contributions to the movement and women’s empowerment through art.
