Working on your splits?
For me the most effective type of flexibility training will be a mix of active and passive exercises.
Add these stretches as well as movements (swipe) into your regular home practice.
Top tip: Keep squaring the hips. I know it’s easier to open the hips but by doing so your bypassing that hip flexor!

I’m sure everyone feels this way about their craft. Even though I’ve spent the last 4 years practicing, I am still uneasy about sharing this part of my day- even though it’s what I love to do. I suppose I’ve been thinking that nobody cares to see this stuff anyway. Does anyone else feel this way? Like you’re selfish for sharing?

But you know lately I’ve just embraced the “who cares” attitude and started sharing more. Because I love this and this is my forum! So I hope that if you’ve taken the time to read this novel, you’re enjoying my yoga progress, and it makes you happy to see it I also hope that you share all the things you love, unapologetically. A simple glute bridge can help strengthen the connection between the feet and the core and integrate the low back, hips and pelvis.
Using a block helps me stay engaged through my center and my hips steady.

Start to actively squeeze the thighs into the block. Then, press the feet down as you lift the hips up. Once up, find length from your knees to your armpits and let the tops of the shoulders settle into the ground, now breathe up into the chest and shoulders for a small backbend.
Try the progression in this video if you’re ready for deeper backbends or stay with the simple glute bridge and enjoy more stability and less pain through the low back and hips.

Why practice both?

The more ways in which you move the more you can experience these connections and help the body open up!
Rounded folds will feel way more intense down the back and are great for counteracting back bends.
Folding with a flat back will work with lengthening the back of the legs and spine.
