1989 Château Lafleur, 1996 Château Margaux, and 2000 Château Cheval Blanc. The Lafleur was excellent, and showed off its elegant side with its delicious red fruit. The Margaux was my wine of the night. This is a stunning wine every time I open it, and this bottle was no exception. The Cheval Blanc was still showing very young, but has lots of potential with lots of delicious plum, smoke, and espresso.

During my recent trip in Bordeaux, I’ve had the chance to do a private visit of @chateaupalmer ☺️ a Margaux Third Growth, which believe me IMHO has nothing to fear to being compared with First Growth wines! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have both tasted Chateau Palmer and Alter Ego, the second wine. Today, I’ll speak of Alter Ego (stay tuned for my review of Chateau Palmer). First vintage of Alter Ego dates back to 1998. I have tasted the 2014 vintage. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is a blend of mostly merlot (52 %), with cabernet sauvignon (35 %) and petit verdot (13 %) aged for 20 months in oak barrels (25 to to 40% new). Seductive nose of dark fruits, leather and exotic spices Generous with a lot of fruit, velvety tannins. Extremely seductive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Such a GREAT wine one of the best I’ve had the privilege to drink to date this year Already enjoyable, but made to last… This 2014 vintage is an important one as it was historically the first one where biodynamics principles have been implemented on the vines! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Kudos Chateau Palmer!
