First finished make of June, although I did technically do most of the work in May This is the yellow Upton Dress for my #rainbowofcashmerette and being honest, when I pulled it from my stash it was the only yellow in there and I really wasn’t sure how I felt about it. It’s grown on me though, as I made the dress (not the first time that’s happened) and now I love the vibrancy of it, even if it is a little reminiscent of hypercolor from the 80s. I suppose it’s fitting though, having cemented myself firmly as a child of the 80s with the Babar and Jetsons Uptons! . #Sewing Five Outfits You Can Make To Wear At Work #Simplicity1200 Neoprene Circle Skirt This was the SECOND circle skirt I ever made, and I actually had to put darts in the back (because the waist of the back was too big since I followed the pattern exactly - which I don't do anymore ), and the back darts actually make the skirt poof more. I made this yellow skirt in January 2018, and have worn it several times - took this picture a few days ago, it still looks GOOD!! A neoprene circle skirt is a must. Since the material stretches, you don't even need a zipper. I have my own circle skirt method now BUT #S1200 is a great starting point for anyone who wants to make a circle skirt. Especially if you're not trying to do all that unnecessary math. TIP: To make better outfits do NOT follow the exact measurements of any pattern, you have to know your own measurements so you can cut accordingly. After my first couple times sewing commercial patterns, I learned to work in my measurements before cutting the fabric. That's why I never comment about a pattern being too big or too small. It has a side zipper, but if you don't know how to put in a zipper, start with buttons or even velcro This is #M7725 View B. The only modification I made was to the lower ruffle, I made mine double the length. I think I did 70 inches per front and back. The thicker, fuller ruffle/flounce looks twice as good. My bodysuit is my Kyra Top, and was purchased from Amazon. See that info in my last post. Would you wear this skirt to work? I am going to rock this all over the office. If you never try- you never get better. I jumped on the #zadietrain again-This time in a JERSEY KNIT! Thats right folks! I interfaced the ties and pockets, went down a size and stay stiched everything I could! #secretpajamas for sure! My first time switching it up from a woven to knit. I finished it! And the silk wasn’t as scary as I thought it’d be! (Thanks to all the helpful tips from this lovely community ). Details on my #zadiejumpsuit wrap top hack (inspired by @threadsnips) below I lengthened the bodice from the hem line about 10cm. For some reason, the front ended up longer than the back, so I trimmed it to meet the length of the back bodice, and followed the @byhandlondon tutorial on finishing narrow hems. I lengthened the sleeves slightly, and cut and spread the pattern piece to create the gather at the end. I finished the sleeve hems with bias binding. I narrowed the bias binding pattern piece so that it would fit in my 18mm bias tape maker. That made life soo much easier! I made a size 8, but my measurements fall into the size 10 bracket. I pondered adding darts to the back, but needed to wear it on Saturday night, and time was running out .
