I've had a mixed experience so far with The Mind. The first was amazing and we reached Level 7 but since then everyone has found it a bit flat. Have you played? I have always loved nature, hiking and camping so Trekking the National Parks from Underdog Games was a really fun one to learn!! I haven't gotten to visit nearly enough of the National Parks but living vicariously through the game was neat and it was fun to claim or occupy different areas. The components and board are also really neat! (check out these hefty meeples!)
Played #elysium last night, reminding me why this is in my Top 10 games. The unique drafting mechanism coupled with the wide variety of interacting powers make for excellent gameplay decisions. Also my first time using Apollo and Ares, which both added new layers to the game.

GREAT WESTERN TRAIL A great Heavy strategy-deck-building game with cows and trains in it! The yummy kind of game that needs a big table Clearly the artwork isn’t the highlight of the game for me. You might say it’s a matter of taste but c’mon let’s be honest : the box cover is uggly . That said the iconography is clear and the general production is very neat. Further I must admit that the cattles cards and the board looks very good. In short, it’s well designed ! ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ Deck Building and Euro games are part of my favorites genre . So I was very excited to finally be able to try this one. First, I do love the theme a lot. Maybe that’s because I’m french and it’s a part of the american classic western fantasy I like. You’re a cowboy moving across Texas with a rondel-like Mechanic, collecting cows over the country in order to sell them at a good price in town. It’s a great combination of set collection, deck building, engine building, racing ...and all these individual mechanics come together really well. I have been really impressed. It takes a lot to learn but the gameplay is very logical once you're into it; it plays smoothly! So many decisions for a game with such quick turns! It is really satisfying to plan and execute your routes and this game literally has multiple paths to victory. My only complaint is that I think buildings could have been a more viable strategy though: it’s a very difficult path to choose . ✍️✍️✍️✍️ Yes it’s weithy and lengthy but it’s still accessible because there's always something you can do and it always feels positive in some way. It’s a great unique game. If you like Heavy Games or want to try some, it’s a blast . @alexxpfister . ⏱to learn : 60 mins to set up: 10 mins ⏰ to play: 90 mins : Bgg rating: 8.3 My rate: 8.0 . . . . #alexanderpfister #eggertdpiele #j2s #jds #greatwesterntrail #boardgamesofinstagram #boardgamegeek #bgg #brettspiel #brettspiele #juegosdemesa #brädspel #boardgamer #boardgames #newboardgame #boardgamenight #giocodatavolo #jeuxdesociete #boardgameart #boardgamepassion #boardgame #tabletop #boardgamer
✨London |❣️8/10 | 2 plays
My bf and I just finished our second game of London I got pummelled in our first game (76-42) because I got too greedy with developing my city at the expense of poverty control Meanwhile, my bf played 2-3 sewer cards that reduced his poverty and my score by 24 points
I won the second game 100-78, so at least I learnt my lesson I made sure to continually reduce my poverty this time and also bought a lot more borough cards this game. That was a great way to draw cards, speed up the game and gain lots of points and useful effects.
We already enjoyed London on our first play, but it definitely improves with more plays as you learn where and what cards there are in the deck. There are lots of interesting card combos and effects to explore, especially with the cards we thought were useless. E.g the shops/omnibuses turned out to be very useful this game as money generators.
My bf thought that needing to know what cards are in the deck was actually a flaw because 1) a beginner will be crushed, and 2) you might not draw the cards you desperately need, but you won’t know unless you know the cards off by heart. He has a point, but he’s also just annoyed that he didn’t get another blue card to play his sewers
Since you see all the cards each game, I was initially worried about the replayability (always a concern as a perpetually broke uni student ). The order in which they’re drawn really changes up how and what you play though, so this hopefully won’t be a problem.
