A world known site, where nature and human settlements have long coexisted together. Bagan, an ancient city in Myanmar mainly consists of 2000 remaining temples in a vast semi-dry area. Nature had taken over those 1000 year old temples and ruins until recently. Nowadays it´s tourists that take over the role of climbing on those sacred structures destroying them bit by bit. A little Indiana Jones feeling overcomes probably most that come visit and regulations have been scarce until very recently. I came back to this place specifically to photograph it - and even though I came for the magnificent light (right after sunrise) and the mist, what keeps being in my mind is the drastic increase of tourism and the destruction of the site due to it within just a few years since I first got a chance to see it. A difficult dilemma - to be one of those visiting - or not. I´m hoping that at least awareness of the necessity to protect such places will change the behavior towards it, so if we can´t stop people to come visit - maybe we can change the way of visiting. Este fue uno de los pocos templos que encontramos abiertos en Bagan, digo encontramos por decir algo porque en realidad nos llevó un local. La historia fue curiosa, conocimos a una chica que estaba de voluntariado en Myanmar y nos contó que solo tenía un día para ver los templos y un señor se había ofrecido a llevarla a ver templos. Así que nos apuntamos al plan. Creo que no he recalcado lo suficiente lo amables y cariñosos que son en Myanmar, porque no sólo nos llevó a este templo, sino que nos llevó a su casa, nos invitó a un té, y nos regalo una bolsa de cacahuetes ( los alrededores de Bagan están repletos de plantaciones de cacahuetes y están deliciosos!) No es un templo inmenso , no estaréis solos, pero es bueno para ver el atardecer. Os dejo las coordenadas por si os pasáis por allí y queréis comprobar si sigue abierto. (21.151188,94.858312) Por cierto, feliz día del libro . Ojalá tuviera más tiempo para leer, pero de momento disfruto de leer cada noche un libro de los "suyos" Viajar y leer son dos cosas muy parecidas, no os parece?
