Beatles '65. Or is it Beatles For Sale or Beatles VI. Songs overlapped as Capitol and Parlophone were putting out records and singles in a furious pace. In '64 9 albums and in '65 6 albums, not counting the 30 something singles. Can you even imagine anyone putting out that volume now? As you can tell I'm a collector of almost anything Beatle's (and Bruce). Some has been relocated to the garage and closet. Not sure why my wife puts up with this, but luckily she does and is responsible for me having all 4 autographs from the '64 Washington concert appearance. Standouts are Baby's in Black and She's A Woman. Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of the release of "I Shall Die Here", the fourth studio album by American experimental metal duo The Body, released on the 1st April 2014 by RVNG Intl. ⠀ The Body formed in 1999 in Providence, Rhode Island, by Chip King on guitar and vocals, and Lee Buford on drums and programming. They released their eponymous debut in 2004, and have since then released 7 solo albums and 8 collaborations. ⠀ This is one of the most interesting bands in metal today. Their influences of sludge, doom, and noise have resulted in some of the most adventurous and forward-thinking sounds in modern heavy music to date. ⠀ I first encountered The Body through the news that British produced The Haxan Cloak (Bobby Krlic) was producing the album "I Shall Die Here", and being familiar with THC, it was very intriguing to imagine an ambient electronic music producer working with a sludge metal band. ⠀ To be honest, I think it was a match made in heaven, and I have been following The Body ever since. ✨Foals✨ Part 1 Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Today (#messyhairdontcare ) I decided to give something that’s typically not my first choice in music a try, and a lazy Sunday is perfect for that. I had heard of Foals before but never really gave one of their albums a chance, until now. Super glad I did by the way hehe ☺️ So, I laid on my couch, I put this record on and let myself just dive into it. My first thought was synth-pop, an indie and cosmic atmosphere that I really ended up enjoying. Their opening song was melodic and simple, but then ‘White Onions’ came on and it was like a shot of adrenaline. In some songs, for example ‘In Degrees’, I felt a little bit of some 80s electronic feel even. Made me think of hot summer days, going out to festivals with friends. I was mostly attracted to their lyrics though, you wouldn’t know by just listening in passing but some of it was melancholic and dark, it was a pleasant surprised. Loved the emotion in it! Specially on ‘Syrups’, my favorite song in the whole album. I really enjoyed how their tempos slowed down, and his voice reflected his lyrics perfectly: “‘Cause I'm about to take flight Please don't ask me why And if the devil wants me Tell him I got high 'Cause life is what you make it You got yours and I got mine” - Over all this album had so many hidden sounds that kept me glued to my speakers and discovering each of their different layers was so much fun and relaxing at the same time.
