As many of you noticed, the hyenas did not get character posters. While I don’t have any intel as to why that was done, I can only speculate. The hyenas aren’t at the top of the spectrum in regards to main characters in Lion King. That’s really the only thing I can come up with. Regardless, I still think the three main hyenas should’ve got posters. Eric Andre, Keegan Michael Key, and Florence Kasuma are popular names so they deserve posters as well. Now that I finally got the international trailer, I’ll give my thoughts. For one, this all looks super perfected. The colors definitely pop more than they did in the first trailer. If I had to assume, I would say they are done with the movie, and if they aren’t, it’s just fine tweaks at this point. We also got to hear a little of JD, and I swear I thought that was Jonathon Taylor Thomas at first. He really sounded just like him so I’m even more confident in his performance. We heard a little of John Oliver but it was just him screaming so I can’t really form an opinion off that. The part where Simba jumps on Mufasa and they start rolling over made my heart melt. It was so beautiful but awful since we all know what’s going to happen. For the people who wanted more emotion in the animals, I think that part right there gave it to you. Other than that, it was really just perfected parts that we’ve seen already. I’m just going to use this post to address a few random things. Firstly, in the international trailer when Simba jumps on Mufasa, I don’t think that is after Mufasa lectures Simba after the elephant graveyard. I think it’s just after Simba pounces on Zazu. The second thing regards something that Jungle Book did. Right before the Jungle Book release in April 2016, these special photos were released where the actors/actresses were posing next to their characters that they were voicing. If I had to guess, I think Lion King will do the same for a few reasons. For one, Favreau directed both movies, so that’s consistent. And secondly, the character posters that we just got last week, are designed very similar to the Jungle Book character posters. It’s a picture of the character, and at the top it gives the actor/actresses name, and the character they are playing(For example: Donald Glover is Simba, or Ben Kingsley is Bagheera). And then at the bottom of the poster is the movie and the release date. Because these are so similar, and the fact that Favreau is directing, I believe that the Lion King actors/actresses will have photos released of them posing with their characters.
