Kayla Naeini. Tomorrow’s guest! As a diabetic advocate who host diabetic meet ups in the San Diego area, her incentive was to create a closer feeling of community and to not feel alone. I’m sure a lot of can relate to that and can get a lot of value from Kayla’s story. Live tomorrow 12pm PST! @frenchiegang_ #t1dlookslikeme #omnipod #t1diabetes
This is the face of a child who has just found out that his little brother also has Type 1 diabetes like him. He's trying to comfort his little brother but his sadness is clear. ...
Adults often think that T1D is no big deal. ...
The ones who fight this disease every day know better.
Please fight with us until type one is type none.
Long time no talk, insta! I took a little break from this account because I feel like it's so important to remember that you are more than your disease. It's so wonderful to have this community and support but it's also so wonderful to not revolve every thought around t1d (even though it's always in the back of my mind). My favorite saying is "I have diabetes, diabetes doesn't have me." Sometimes I have to remind my brain who's boss. •

** I've also always loved this artwork. I don't know who made it or who to give credit to, but it's not my own. •

This shouldn’t be a radical statement, yet somehow it is.
People with diabetes inhabit all types of bodies. Stop the demonisation of fat. People are different weights for all types of reasons, and it’s nobody’s business except theirs. What IS our business is how we treat those around us. So often within this diabetes community people living in a larger body are made to feel ashamed of their body, and that somehow their body is a reflection on how they manage their diabetes.
You cannot tell by looking at someone how healthy they are or how they manage their diabetes - and it DOESN’T CONCERN YOU ANYWAY. Living with diabetes doesn’t exist in a vacuum, we all come into this with our own issues, mental obstacles, and pre existing hang ups. It is HARD! The best thing you can do for someone with diabetes who is living in a larger body is to simply respect them. Understand that we are all unique, and that someone doesn’t have to fit into what you’ve been conditioned to think is ‘healthy’. We’re not asking for much, just give us the respect that we deserve as human beings. Society already puts us into a box, why would you further judge those in our community? No shame, demonisation, or degradation - let’s try working together to tackle this diabetes beast head on.#diabadass
Endo appointment in 2 hours - wish us luck !! I'm pretty sure that my younger son's A1c went up and hope that my older son's didn't increase even more ...
