About 250 km north of Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, rises the millenary city of Meroe. Here is a priceless human heritage, dozens of pyramids known as Nubians, from the African region of Nubia. In this land there was the kingdom of Kush, of which Meroe was the last capital. ⁣ ⁣ UNESCO heritage since 2011, the Nubian pyramids date back to 800 BC, built as a symbol of power of the prestigious kingdom of Kush, domain of the "black pharaohs". The site of Meroe is also known as the "royal cemetery" and contains 100 pyramids. ⁣ ⁣ The physical proportion of the Nubian pyramids differs a lot from the Egyptian pyramids: they are built in steps, and are from six to thirty meters high, with bases rarely wider than eight meters, which led to structures with slopes of about 70 degrees. Upon his death, it was left to his four daughters. Now, a substantial 75 gold coins from it have a new permanent home in Jerusalem’s Israel Museum. According to daughter Giovanna Adda Coen, whose donation more than doubled the total number of gold Roman coins in the Jewish state.
