...watchme ...watch me soar I need some new headshots, it’s been a while. I was 8 in this pic, and every time I see it I have the craziest memory and announcement. My eyebrows are REAL!!! LMAO The memory is: My third grade teacher asked me to stay after class one day and she said “Do you pluck your eyebrows?” I said “What’s that?” She said, “Come on, you can tell me.” TRUE STORY I told my mom when I got home and she went up to the school to scold my teacher about asking an 8 year old boy that question! I still had NO IDEA what was going on. Growing up, I do always remember my aunts making remarks about how I was lucky to get my fathers eyebrows. They also hated them. LOL To this day, I’m very aware of my brows. I know when people are looking at them, questioning and the whole nine. LOL I do love it when I’m in the makeup chair though, because I feel like the makeup people are the only ones that know the truth! They are always like, “Dang! I could have sworn you arched them.” And often, when you see me on film they have had to darken my brows, because they are so thin. LOL . So, in the spirit of being yourself I’ll tell you I’ve always been self conscious about my brows...but I’ve grown to love me. Grass is always greener thou... . ...watchme ...watch me soar ...I love this job . The story goes, the photographer put my hands on my cheeks and they just stayed. Anyone that knows me may say, I was born wanting to be seen. I guess I DO know, yet I’ll save that for a later conversation. What I know today is, remembering the very first time I was intrigued by an actor. It was Ricky Schroder in the remake of “The Champ”! Through the tears of a 10 year old Freddie Tate, I kept thinking “but, isn’t he acting?” “How is it that this actor just pulled real emotions out of me?” Don’t get me wrong, I had cried at movies before... but this was the first time (the performance) stood out to me. . Again, that’s a whole other story. Today, I know for a fact I’ve NEVER wanted to be LIKE any other actor. When I see a brilliant performance, I sometimes weep at the thought of how “I” would have lived that character. It sometimes gets in the way of me enjoying a film. . I AM FREDDIE TATE AND I AM AN ACTOR. I want to be the greatest actor, and with hard work I will be. I’ve always wanted to escape the life that baby has lived through. Acting, gives me that chance and I welcome it. . My performances will be seen and studied. I’m subtle, I know where I should be. I learn every day. I want to be challenged and tell the story. .
