One of those moments a few years back where I was flicking through the racks, came across an album sleeve and instantly thought "I've got to get this". I'm very glad I did, as Benzaiten - meaning God of Music and Water - is a highly distinctive, bewitching and progressive merging of ancient Japanese instruments with Western jazz and rock forms. I love a good film, me, and I love a good soundtrack even more. There are some absolute corkers out there, but this is one of my faves. Grease is the word, after all... #turntabletuesday I remember exactly where I was when I first saw Grease - I was about 10, visiting my Nan and Grandad. The grown-ups were downstairs and my brother and I were doing somersaults on the spare bed (our favourite game) with the TV on. We were watching Channel 4, and the adverts were on. Then when the programme started again it was Grease, the scene where they’re having a sleepover and Rizzo sings “Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee”. I was hooked. I didn’t move for the rest of the film, and later I persuaded my Mum to rent it for me from the video shop, as I’d missed the start. Later that summer I remember seeing the Grease Megamix on Top of the Pops (showing my age, I know...) and just thinking it was one of the COOLEST things I’d ever seen. And I still do, pretty much. What a film, what a soundtrack, and what a moment in time. I love this Xx
