The Process✨It’s taken a long time for me to heal from sexual assault only to write my book and realize I still had more healing to do. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with and even at the start of the #metoo movement I couldn’t move myself to share my full story out of fear, guilt and shame. I know I’m not alone and I’m finally finding my voice on this topic thanks to the many courageous women and men that have shared their stories. Thank you!❤️❤️ * The biggest lesson that I’ve learned from these traumatic experiences is that you have to forgive yourself first. Even though I know none of the instances I experienced where my fault I unconsciously ask myself again and again “what could I have done differently?” Which is the most hurtful question to ask anyone that’s been through trauma because it insinuates that something was done wrong. When I replace that question with “how can I move forward in love?” I’m able to forgive myself without blame or shame. I’m able to forgive to other person by expressing my pain and allowing it to leave my body and then the healing can begin. I repeat this process over and over every time an emotion outside of love comes up: Acknowledge (this happened)+ Express (how I feel about what happened) + Release (what happened doesn’t define me. I am LOVE) I learned this process after reading “Radical Forgiveness” by Colin Tipping.✨ * After my most recent assault on a massage table about a month ago I realized that my expression is on a global level and running from this glaring truth is running from myself. It’s time to speak up and speak out so with a lump in my throat and body trembling I’m stepping FULLY and FIERCELY into my FEARS so I can face them and release their power over me. I am LOVE. Интернет - пространство смелости для интровертов и одна из самых сильных зависимостей нашего времени? Мне тут на днях под постом "о пребывании в моменте" сообщили, "что я живу в интернете", мол о чем вообще говорю..Забавно, конечно, всегда веселят такие комменты незнакомцев, но речь не об этом. Как у вас с интернет-зависимостью и смелостью за монитором? Как вы себя чувствуете забыв телефон дома? Устраиваете ли дни без гаджетов? Я помню, после последнего недельного брейка без телефона, когда я осознанно оставила его дома и уехала в гималаи, мне было сложно по возвращению читать инстаграмную ленту и еще неделю не хотелось писать посты. А так, я люблю забыть про его существование, особенно в поездках.. А про смелость, понимаю людей, которым проще что-то написать в соц сетях, чем сказать человеку лично, но, прежде всего от занятости и расстояния между людьми, так бывает быстрее и точнее, но категорически не понимаю тех, кто любит писать гадости за ботными страницами незнакомым людям. Тут надо быть смелым, гадости надо говорить в лицо! если вы уже их говорите, иначе не интересно Признавайтесь, сколько часов в день тратите на соц сети? И как дела обстоят со сложностью сказать что-то лично, но легкостью отправить сообщение в сети? А может вы как раз любитель писать гадости за аватаркой котика? почему бы и нет? Do you often forget things? I am like a goldfish with the shortest memory the reality is I tend to focus so much on things that are of the biggest importance at a given moment that all informations that do come my way other than the ones my brain recognizes as essential for the current focus just get lost somewhere. . I find meditating hard. Like IMPOSSIBLY HARD. And I probably shouldn't feel like that because 1. I’m a yoga teacher - it was literally in our training AND 2. I know the benefits are real. There is literally data showing it, plus I MYSELF have felt it in those brief periods of my life where I have committed to the practice. And yet, I can’t. You know that saying that busy people are the ones that need to meditate? And that if you don’t feel like you have time then you definitely should? It feels so cliched I don’t want it to be true. And yet. IS IT? This week I committed to mediating daily. I decided that dipping a toe in clearly wasn’t working and so instead have dived in head first and have gone for a whole half hour a day. 10 minutes morning, noon and night. And at times its’s great, and at others I have opened my eyes every 30 seconds because SURELY it must be over by now... Here’s what I have learnt. The stupid cliched sentence actually makes sense: When you are so busy with life things you forget YOU. You forget to look after the home that is your mind and your body. You forget what actually matters. Because no pause exists. And so neither does that space between the noise of the outside world and internalising it. You can’t listen because that blurred rush of what society deems important is too loud. And so you just do, do do But. Meditation is the pause It is what takes you back to you. Does that make sense? Okay. And how to start? I think it is about shaking things up and figuring out what works (which, rather helpfully mediation makes you better at that). But apps like apps like @headspace and @calm are great if you have no clue where to start. And @nicolajanehobbs book Thrive Through Yoga is one of my faves (it walks you through 21 days beautifully) And it takes discipline. I am NOT saying this week has been a happy stroll in the park, green juice in hand. But I do believe it is WORTH TRYING.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I missed a class today and it brought back memories of how I used to react to it. A few years back I was so obsessed about my weight that missing one class made me feel like I would gain a few extra kgs. On days where I get caught up with work and couldn't make it in time for class, I'd still do an hour of crazy HIIT workouts even when I reached home at 11+pm. Sometimes I'd just skip dinner. I was constantly exhausted - mentally and physically. Today? It's fine seriously. I had a nice dinner, good company, and cendol (although cendol was a 5/10 hahaha). I've learnt that there will be circumstances in your life that you can't control, but the way you react to it? That's really in your hands. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
