How can I better channel anger into a force for good? Nine of Cups, Queen of Swords, + Queen of Cups. These all fell out of the deck together, and the combination feels profound. In Tarot de Marseille, 9 of Cups is the intersection of the Hermit + Water energy: emotional isolation. This card seems to be representing the anger. Notice both Queens are approaching that feeling. They are not ignoring the anger, but confronting it head on. I often struggle to choose between my mind and my heart, but these Queens, both me, remind me that *both* are valid. What am I stepping into in the month of June? Four of Wands. ••• While I don’t feel very celebratory today with my stomach illness still in full swing, this pull seems appropriate. ••• It’s hard to believe this is the last day of May and the last day of this challenge. We started off this month asking how we could celebrate ourselves, and I think this whole challenge has been a series of thirty-one celebrations of self. How can I deepen my connections with community? Knight of Swords and Temperance. ••• These two slid out during the shuffle, and it took all I had not to put them back in and pull again. ••• I tend to overthink things, which has done a lot to keep me from connecting with community. I often allow anxiety about how I will be received prevent me from joining or announcing my presence or input. ••• The Knight of Swords is encouraging me to jump right in there. Worry less, participate more. Temperance is showing up as a reminder that putting myself out there *does* open me up to sweet, bitter, and indifferent reception—and that’s okay. Take it all with a grain of salt, but participate. How can I befriend the unknown? Strength. ••• This one seems pretty clear cut, though easier said than done: Face my fears with compassion. Strength and befriending the unknown are synonymous. ••• The unknown is only scary because I don’t know what it is—not because of its true nature. Everything, really, is an unknown. Even if I think I know how something is going to turn out or how someone is, I don’t. So I can either live in constant fear or I can accept that what’s to come will be okay. I am, at my innermost core, unknown to others, but I still deserve compassion, right? We are all wild beasts with behaviors that seem unpredictable to those unfamiliar with us, but if we befriend each other—and all of Nature and the Universe—the anxiety around approaching us dissipates. ••• I am heading into a known unknown. I do not have a clear vision of how my livelihood and relationships will proceed. Though I have selected some significant pieces of the puzzle, I’m not really sure how it’s all going to fit together. As I am prone to anxiety, this is a gigantic opportunity for fear of the unknown to rear its head. Instead, I can step forward with compassion, remembering that we are just two beasts who are equally afraid of each other. How can I deepen my connection with myself? Knight of Swords and Three of Swords. ••• Clearly, the Knight of Swords is the key to deepening my connections in general because he showed up in the same spot yesterday for deepening my connection with community. This knight is directly addressing my tendency to hold back, my fear of moving forward. ••• The Three of Swords, here, is a collaboration between the Empress and Air energy—the result being about the creative expression of ideas. The way I have connected deeply with myself in the past is through writing. I go through phases where I do more or less of that, and now is one of those lower points. This combination of cards is encouraging me to jump back into writing with curiosity.
