“Shooting on film was the best way to preserve the authenticity this story was asking for. Tonally, film was the perfect compliment in showing the life of the neighborhood. It also captured the timeless nature of the song itself. It was truly an honor to be entrusted with such a personal story.”

This weekend, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the #Apollo11 moon landing mission. We’re proud of the role that Kodak scientists and engineers played in helping document this monumental occasion - creating specially formulated films for space. 16mm motion picture film was used on the Maurer Data Acquisition Camera (2nd image), mounted in the window of Command Module “Columbia,” where it recorded the historic events leading up to the moon landing.
Because of their work to not only land on the moon and collect samples, but to also document it for all of humankind to see, Astronauts Neil Armstrong, @drbuzzaldrin, and @astromichaelcollins were named honorary @the_asc members. Deservedly so.
To learn more about the technical achievements that went into supporting and documenting the moon landing, go to kodak.com/go/moon
